The professional sports teams in the Washington, DC area have some very high quality young talent. I will be giving my top three two stars in DC to watch for as their careers progress.
1. John Wall
The franchise point guard out of the University of Kentucky is in his fourth year with the Wizards. After struggling in his first few seasons with turnover issues and injuries, Wall had a very strong 2013 season, leading the Wizards to the playoffs. The success Wall had in 2013 has carried over to this season and it is currently his best season yet. The talented point guard can do everything on the court, and his electric play style has earned him the spot as the starting point guard in the 2015 NBA All Star Game. He has worked hard to develop a better mid range and three point shot, which has forced defenses to respect him from all areas on the court. The improvement of his jump shot and having good health, has propelled Wall to be the best point guard in the NBA. Along with fellow young star Bradley Beal, the tandem is arguably the best backcourt in the NBA. Wall is having a memorable season, breaking the franchise record for most consecutive double-doubles, and falling just one rebound shy of a triple-double against the Lakers. The team that has been put around Wall looks to be one that can achieve success in the playoffs, and having Wall will help the Wizards case to land Kevin Durant in 2016.
2. Anthony Rendon
The Washington Nationals have by far the best young talent of any team in DC, and in my opinion, the best one is second baseman Anthony Rendon. Although he does not get as much national media coverage as Bryce Harper or Steven Strasburg, Nationals fans know just how talented the young infielder is. Drafted out of Rice University, there were some concerns about his health in college when he injured his knee, but he has silenced any critics with his play. Rendon can play at second, shortstop, or third. He has a strong arm and a range of a shortstop and a reliable bat. In the playoffs, Rendon was one of the only players on the team that actually produced, along with Harper. Rendon plays the game the right way and he reliable, his potential is incredible. Look for him to be in the race for NL MVP at some point in his career.
