Welcome sports fans, to a brand new sports blog, Real Talk Sports Zone. My name is Jake Murray and I'm an 18 year old high school student from the Washington, D.C. area. This blog will cover anything and everything in the sports world, especially regarding any of my beloved DC sports teams, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Dayton. I also have a YouTube channel (RealTalkSportsZone) where I will be making occasional podcasts and videos so be on the lookout for those in the future. This is a blog where I am open to any and all comments and questions, I really appreciate feedback from the readers of this blog and share ideas and opinions on sports topics.
That's enough introduction, time to get into my picks for the AP Top 25 for the NCAA this week, as well as my picks for every NFL game this week. I plan on doing these selections each week and keeping track of my wins and losses, if you use my picks to gamble on games I am not responsible for your losses, but if you win I want 20%. All jokes aside lets get into this weeks college games.
This week in college football doesn't have the usual power match ups inside the top 25 with the exception of the sixth ranked Georgia Bulldogs traveling to face the 24th ranked Gamecocks of South Carolina. This should be a typical fast paced and physical SEC game, but I believe Georgia's running game featuring star running back Todd Gurley will be too much for South Carolina to handle. I have Georgia with the win and I am predicting that the rest of the top 25 teams handle their business and come out on top this weekend. If I had to put one team on upset alert this weekend it would be #16 Arizona State, they are traveling to Boulder to play Colorado who seem to always play well in big games.
Week 1 of the NFL season was a good one, a few games went into OT and although my Redskins lost, it could have been worse... we could still have Mike Shanahan and his useless son calling the plays and benching quarterbacks. After last week, half of the league thinks their going undefeated and the other half is already planning golf trips for next January. I'll give you my picks for each game this weekend and a fantasy play that will help you this week.
Away Home Jake's Pick
Steelers Ravens Ravens
Dolphins Bills Bills
Jaguars Redskins Redskins
Cowboys Titans Cowboys
Cardinals Giants Cardinals
Patriots Vikings Vikings
Saints Browns Saints
Falcons Bengals Bengals
Lions Panthers Lions
Rams Buccaneers Buccaneers
Seahawks Chargers Seahawks
Texans Raiders Texans
Jets Packers Packers
Chiefs Broncos Broncos
Bears 49ers 49ers
Eagles Colts Eagles
My fantasy play of the week is Carson Palmer of the Arizona Cardinals. He is facing a Giants defense that struggled last year and gave up 341 Passing yards and 35 points to the Lions in week 1. Palmer has multiple weapons to throw to with Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, and running back Andre Ellington to wear the defense down. Palmer had a big game against the Chargers on Monday night and was in the top 5 in fantasy QB rankings last week. Look for a big game from him against the Giants this weekend.
Thanks for reading my first post on this new blog! Let me know what you think about my picks and I'd love to hear yours.
